Kalamkari Metal Jacket Pen
Kalamkari is one of the most praised ethnic textiles of India. Kalamkari is a composite word of ‘kalam’ means pen and ‘kari’ means work. Kalamkari works are produced both by painting and hand printing with wooden blocks. Important centres of kalamkari textile industry in South India are Masulipatnam, Sikalahasti, and Kurrupur. The trade link between Safavid Persia and Qutb-shahi Golconda provided a firm base to popularise this art form in India. The vivid colours used to paint or print kalamkari fabric come from organic dyes.
